OLDER ADULT SERVICES
Geropsychology is a specialty area that focuses on understanding, treating and improving the mental health of older adults (65+). I am board certified in Geropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and I have significant experience in person-centered approaches to assessment and treatment of neurocognitive disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia.
NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
Adults 65+
I utilize standardized neuropsychological assessments to clarify if cognitive concerns are due to normal age-related changes or indicate early signs of a neurocognitive disorder. Neuropsychological assessments evaluate different aspects of cognitive functioning, such as memory, attention and concentration, executive functioning and reasoning. I also incorporate standardized psychological assessments to understand the role mood symptoms may be playing in cognitive functioning.
The assessment entails meeting for a clinical interview followed by administration of a test battery. When appropriate, I work closely with the older adult’s family and medical providers to gather diagnostic data. A comprehensive written report, which includes diagnostic impressions and recommendations, is shared during the feedback session.

Comprehensive assessment allows for a better understanding of an older adult’s strengths and challenges and aids in future planning. Assessment results in person-centered recommendations to enhance or maintain cognitive functioning and quality of life.

Benefits of neuropsychological assessment:
Assist in diagnosis
Establish baseline functioning
Identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses
Guide clinical management decisions
Treatment planning to promote functioning and quality of life

ROLE TRANSITIONS
Life transitions, including the loss of a close relationship, changes in your role at home or at work or the death of a loved one, can result in feelings of loss, sadness and confusion. The development of a new chronic medical condition can also disrupt life and lead to feelings of depression and anxiety.
Therapy can help you clarify your values, improve your relationships and build a sense of purpose.
CAREGIVER SUPPORT
Caring for a loved-one with memory loss can be an exhausting job both physically and emotionally. Caregivers often put aside their own needs to care for a loved one leaving them at risk for stress-related conditions. Becoming a caregiver can also significantly change your relationship resulting in feelings of loss, sadness and anger.
I provide evidence-based caregiver support to individuals caring for a loved one with dementia. Sessions focus on dementia education, behavior management and stress reduction. I also provide support as the caregiver navigates the transition in their relationship.
